The Association of Dutch Producers of Edible Oils and Fats VERNOF represents the interests of Dutch companies that produce vegetable oils, fats and proteins and/or refine vegetable and animal oils and fats.
VERNOF works closely together with MVO, the Dutch oils and fats Industry (www.mvo.nl). VERNOF is a founding member of the European Vegetable Oil and Proteinmeal Federation, FEDIOL (www.fediol.eu).
VERNOF member companies represent both bulk processing and specialty preparation. Their large scale operations create efficiency benefits and allow an affordable and high quality food offer. Protein rich meal and crude and refined oils and fats are an essential feed ingredient. Refined and further processed oils and fats find their way as a source of energy as well as a seasoning and texture provider to the margarine, sauces, bakery, cake, chocolate and infant food industries. Crude and refined oils and fats are also a raw material for the biodiesel industry.
Located in or near well accessible seaports the VERNOF members are in a good position to efficiently supply their customers in Northwestern Europe. About 80 percent of Dutch production is exported.
The association came into being in 1973 as a merger of the Association of Dutch Oil Producers (established in 1912) and the Association of Dutch Oils and Fats Refiners (established in 1940).
